Michael G. Wilson ist der langjährige Bond‑Produzent und Drehbuchautor, der gemeinsam mit Barbara Broccoli die Reihe von den 1980ern bis «No Time to Die» geprägt hat. Er wurde am 21. Januar 1942 in New York City als Sohn des Schauspielers Lewis Wilson und der Autorin Dana Natol geboren und ist der Stiefsohn von Albert R. «Cubby» Broccoli.
Er studierte zunächst Elektrotechnik am Harvey Mudd College, anschliessend Jura an der Stanford University und arbeitete als Anwalt im Bereich internationales Steuerrecht. 1972 wechselte er zu EON Productions in die Rechtsabteilung und wurde bei «The Spy Who Loved Me» zum persönlichen Assistenten Broccolis, bevor er bei «Moonraker», «For Your Eyes Only» und «Octopussy» zum Executive Producer aufstieg.
Ab «A View to a Kill» war Wilson Co‑Produzent an der Seite Broccolis, später – ab «GoldenEye» – Produzent gleichberechtigt mit seiner Halbschwester Barbara Broccoli. Parallel schrieb er zusammen mit Richard Maibaum mehrere Drehbücher, darunter «For Your Eyes Only», «Octopussy», «A View to a Kill», «The Living Daylights» und «Licence to Kill», und prägte so Tonfall und Struktur der Bond‑Filme der 1980er.
Nach Broccolis Tod führte Wilson die Serie weiter, modernisierte sie mit dem Reboot «Casino Royale» und hielt als kreativer Co‑Steuermann Bond durch wechselnde Darsteller, Studios und Publikumserwartungen hindurch auf Kurs.
